It's the kind of art we love having in our home, filling our atmosphere. Matthäus Schiestl (1869-1939) was a German artist known primarily for doing Catholic pictures, mostly of Jesus and Mary set in the German forest. They are all wonderful, with a safe, secluded feel- a mixture of sweetly ordinary and deeplly mystical.This picture has two of his favorite subjects: Jesus and Mary and an attractive little chapel. It's the kind of place we'd like to visit to go pray in. Two angels guard the door, and mother and child are out in the garden, enjoying the flowers.Friend, we live in kind of jaded world, where there isn't much space for Jesus, Mary, and flowers. But in his day, Matthäus Schiestl was very famous. He even made postage stamps for the German governent, his art was so generally accepted. The painting is called in Ge
