St. Julie Billiart (1751-1816) was a French nun, Saint, educator, and founder of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur. She was very devout from early childhood, and she received communion four years before her peers. When she was young, someone attempted to murder her father, and the emotional trauma of it paralyzed her for twenty-two years. She offered up her suffering. And again violence pursued her when the French Revolution broke out, as the murderous mob was hunting priests and religious. After that, she had a vision that she would found an order for the Christian education of young girls. She recovered her mobility in 1805, just after the order was founded and the first companions were with her. In 1815, she damaged her health again while tending to the wounded from the Battle of Waterloo. She died in April of the next year. Her order is still thriving, with 1200 religious spread out over 20 countries worldwide. Canonized by Pope Paul VI in 1969. Feast Day April 8 (source: www.cath
