New! St. Patrick Holy Card –by Sue Kouma Johnson – pack of 10/100/1000

St. Patrick lived from around 386 to around 461 AD. He was born in Britain to a Roman family, and at age 16 he was grabbed by some Irish coastal raiders and sold into slavery in Ireland. He tended sheep there for about 6 years, and then escaped and got back to his home in Britain. He became a priest and returned to Ireland to do mission work to that pagan island. He established monasteries, churches, and schools. He is famous for many things, some of them dipped in legend, including the long prayer, The Cry of the Deer. We have included an extract from that prayer for the back of this card. (We have the less famous excerpt on our other St. Patrick card, which features a vintage image of Patrick by an artist named Honate.)The story of the Cry of the Deer is about St. Patrick as he was looking for the site for his first stone church in Ireland.
