Our Lady of Lourdes Medal

The Blessed Mother appeared to St Bernadette Soubiroux in 1858, shortly after the Church defined the dogma that Mary was conceived in her mother's womb without original sin. She told Bernadette "I am the Immaculate Conception," which meant nothing to our dear saint as she was 15 and very poorly educated. But God uses the small and weak to confound the proud and strong. Miraculous healing waters were provided by Mary at Lourdes and are still flowing today. This charm is a detail of a painting Sue did with acrylics and colored pencils; the image is included here just to give more context.
