Dear Saint Anne is one of our favorite patrons, patroness of housewives and mothers, grandma of Jesus. Who could be better for us girls, ladies, and moms?Tradition has it that Joachim and Anne were childless into old age. But through their faith and holiness, they finally conceived the child destined to mother our Redeemer, Christ.They dedicated her to God in a very special way, bringing her to the Temple at age three, there to serve God. This was not an uncommon practice at the time, and there seems to have been a hope that one of the little girls serving in the Temple would be the mother of the Messiah, although no one could have dreamed He would be not only a great man, but God Himself!Sue portrays Anne teaching her little Mary to pray.
