Outdoor Mushroom Cultivation Workshop
Join us on the land of permaculture design specialist and founder of 100 Miles North, Brigid Walsh, for a spring workshop of mushroom cultivation. Foraging Walk: We will start the workshop by circling up for an introduction to the day and a talk to learn the basics about mushrooms. We will then follow a path into the woods on a brief guided mushroom foraging walk where you will learn about fungal mycelia (roots of fungi), habitats, how fungi grow, and basic cultivation terms. Inoculation Workshop: Our walk will end at the cultivation space where a cultivation expert will demonstrate all the steps for inoculating a log to grow shiitake mushrooms and how to care for your log. Next everyone will be hands on as we drill, plug(inoculate), wax, and label logs. Mushroom Lunch & Medicinal Sampling: After we have inoculated our logs for the day, we will circle up again to enjoy a cup of shiitake barley stew and sample Catskill Fungi lion’s mane extracts as we talk about cooking methods fo
