September Foraging Wild Plants and Fungi with Yael
Join Yael Bernhard in this introductory wild plant and mushroom walk. We will learn about the life cycle of mushrooms and plants and their interconnections in the ecosystem. We'll talk about the types of mushrooms and plants, beginning identification skills, and some pretty cool take-home facts. Each group gets a hand lens to take home for examining the physical attributes of fungi and plants. All ages welcome. Location: Meet at the Catskill Fungi Mushroom Mural 8553 NY-28, Pine Hill, NY 12465 What to expect: We will start at the Mushroom Mural in Pine Hill, where each family gets a hand lens for identifying mushrooms. There will be a brief Fungi101 explanation as well as what to expect from our walk. Participants will have the option to borrow baskets, bags, and/or books to take with them as we head onto an easy trail into the forest to learn about the fungi we find.
