Ancient Byzantine AE 20 Nummia Coin Pendant, Sterling

Byzantine half follis bronze coin, circa 565-578A.D., in hammered sterling silver pendant frame.  This type of coin was minted in bronze throughout the Byzantine Empire in wide variety. The Latin term nummus  means "coin" but was used for a range of copper and bronze coins issued by the Roman and Byzantine empires during Late Antiquity. The "K" denotes the coin's value- 20 nummia -which is equal to a half follis. The word "ANNO" to the left of the "K" means "year" and  the Roman Nummerals to the right of the "K" is the reigning year of the emperor depicted on the reverse of the coin.
