Quetzalcoatl Ring, Solid Silver. Approximately 9.6mm wide at top. Quetzalcoatl, the Feathered Serpent,  or  in Spanish, La Serpiente Emplumada. The design for this ring is taken from the artwork of the Quetzalcoatl Temple in Teotihuacán, Mexico. The top features the serpent head with feathers starting at the neck, the body forming the band of the ring, and the feathered tail joining the mouth. The legends of Quetzalcoatl vary, but share some common elements throughout ancient America.  A powerful visitor came from the sky and lived with the people for a time.  He taught the people, and promised to return. When Hernan Cortez arrived, some thought he was the returning Quetzalcoatl.  His fair skin and bearded face closely matched one of the physical descriptions handed down through the centuries. The snake represents a powerful god figure.  The feathers represent the gift of flight. This ring is made from solid sterling silver, with an oxidized finish.   Available in sizes 5 - 13. Also av
