Variations of this coin from the Greek colony of Cherronesos, in modern European Turkey, were commonly struck in 400 - 350 BCE. A symbol of strength and sovereignty, this particular lion is a majestic carving that feels timeless and powerful. On the reverse is a four part square with two raised quadrants and two lowered quadrants. In ancient times these quadrants were broken off for smaller sums of payment. The coin measures 1/2" across. This replica is available with or without a diamond, and the chain is sold separately. Gold 4.13 gr Model PD-1064
