Temple of Peace for Clarinet Alone This work was inspired by and written for my friend, clarinetist Jonathan Aubrey, and is based on his personal experiences while living in the city of ChiangMai in Northern Thailand. The composition is programmatic in nature and describes the peaceful atmosphere of a temple in the city. It is cool and calm in the early morning with the wind blowing and bells of different sizes singing. The sun is raising and the city is waking up from a restful night. The sounds of birds taking flight, local music, monks chanting and daily life grow louder, but for those who seek peace from within, the 'Temple of Peace' remains firmly rooted in their minds. Premiered by Jonathan Aubrey, June 2015 at the Etihad Modern Art Gallery, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
