R' Freifeld Original Art

This portrait is my tribute to Rav Freifeld, the legendary founder of Yeshiva Shor Yashuv in Far Rockaway — a rebbe known for his depth, warmth, and remarkable ability to reach every kind of Jew. He was someone who saw the spark in each person, no matter their background, and drew them close with humility, love, and authenticity. I painted him in vibrant layers of blues, purples, and soft light tones to reflect that openness — the sense that he carried a wide, welcoming heart and a vision that embraced all of Klal Yisrael. His expression is gentle and alive, radiating the sincerity and wisdom he was known for. The textured brushstrokes and shifting hues symbolize the many types of Yidden he connected with, each one a different shade, yet all part of a shared, luminous whole. Through color and light, I wanted to capture not just his likeness, but the impact of a man who built bridges, lifted spirits, and saw the beauty in every soul he encountered.
