The walk on the road to Emmaus was the first appearance of the resurrected Jesus Christ after His death. His disciples were devastated because they thought He was the one who was establishing a new government. After His death, they didn't know what to think, nor did they have any understanding about why things happened the way they did. This is the account in the book of Luke: “Two of them were going to a village named Emmaus, about seven miles from Jerusalem, and they were talking with each other about all these things that had happened.
