This beautiful duck lacquer "ring" box was first hand carved. Then sap from a different species of trees within the Anacardiaceae family was collected. The resin, secreted from cuts in the bark of the tree was filtered and used as a paste, primer, glue, or finish. After many coats of the black "lacquer" dried, the 22k gold designs were applied. The duck measures 2 3/4" inches from beak to tail. Width 1 1/4 inches. A perfect place for special keepsakes.
