The teapot is made by the potter Liu Xinlong (check here for more details of Liu) from Jingdezhen, the capital of pottery in China.  Formed with a cute shape of a hulu (gourd), the teapot surprisingly stood out for a unique and elegant appearance when we were trying to find something special among hundreds of teapots from the same kiln. It is made by terracotta ceramic blended by the potter himself. Then it comes out with brilliant colors as a result of being covered by the ash of pine trees fully during 3 days and nights firing in the kiln . To some extent, as most of the pieces are colored by the ash only partially in the same kiln , the fully-done pieces become extremely precious like this pot.  The appearance of the teapot moves between light and dark grey with a stunning effect of speckles, like painting a milky way on teapot.
