Yellow Flowers Handpainted Gaiwan

A set: a gaiwan + two cups The gaiwan is hand thrown and hand painted by the same artist Ma , based in Jingdezhen. As a young potter and painter, Ma likes to free his mind from the painting of the traditional object to incorporate modern simplicity. Even though Ma’s painting is not as exquisite as you see in those handpainted teacups of our shop, the design inspired by the nature or routine life definitely reflects his thoughts of life and great creation to the tradition. Made of rough clay, the gaiwan features the light yellow-green glaze with faint cracks throughout, giving it an understated and elegant appearance. As a result of iron content in the clay, the gaiwan is spread with black pockmarks across. Inspired by those yellow flower trees in a park where we were walking in a certain early morning, we were so excited to talk with Ma about our ideas of new gaiwan.
