SEASONAL & LIMITED ~ Winner of Best in Show at the World Cheese Awards!  Rogue River Blue is a limited-production cheese, only made in the late summer/early fall when the Oregon climate gets a bit cooler and wetter, bringing renewed growth to the pastures and higher quality feed for the cows. After it's aged for 9-11 months, their team hand-wraps each wheel in organic, biogyamic Syrah grape leaves that have been soaked in pear spirits. Finally, it's released for sale each year on the Autumnal Equinox. Flavorwise, it's definitely a strong tasting blue, wihtout being overpowering. It has an enormously complex flavor, combing notes of vanilla, truffle and fig along with the traditional piquancy of blue. Its texture is on the creamy side, with a fudgy sort of mouthfeel.
