Step back to the early 1900s, when a scenic rail line carried excited travelers from Washington, D.C. and Baltimore to the breezy shores of Chesapeake Beach, Maryland. The path the train followed—winding through the wild, floral countryside of Southern Maryland—became lovingly known as the Honeysuckle Route, named for the sweet scent that lingered in the summer air.
