THE SECRET GARDEN
The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett This classic novel features orphaned Mary Lennox, a mean 10 year old girl, who is sent to live with an uncle and a disabled cousin she’s never met at Misselthwaite Manor on the Yorkshire moors. There, she encounters boredom and begins to wander the abandoned grounds and discovers a ‘secret garden’. This garden becomes a catalyst for healing in the characters who see it. The Secret Garden was originally written in parts in a magazine for adults before being published in 1911. It is banned in some areas of the world for racist language and viewpoints.
