"Wild Country" 8x10" Plein Air Painting

We hiked 4 miles deep into the wild countryside of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem where I found this stunning view of a snow covered mountain. The composition alone captivated me and there was no doubt that I had to capture that on canvas. I loved the way the sage filled the foreground of this landscape. I think it perfectly complimented the smooth, rolling ridge lines as they faded away back towards the mountain peak. I wanted to grab the viewers attention with thick, expressive textures and that cool sense of atmosphere that appears on the horizon. I'll never forget this experience or this morning.
