Linguine looks a lot like fettuccine although fettuccine is wider. Linguine and fettuccine are both a long, thin noodle-like type of pasta, but they do differ and are used for separate entrees.  Linguine is not as flat as fettuccine and is more narrow.  Since linguine is thin, it leaves linguine pasta more fragile or delicate.  Because of this feature, linguine is best prepared with sauces that are light and thin, with no chunky meat or large vegetables.  If you wish to add vegetables to your dish, go for sauteed greens.
