A vacuum gauge measures suction in water lift inches. Simply place the round rubber end of the gauge onto the intake of the power unit, an inlet valve or open pipe end to determine sealed suction. To measure working suction, use a test Y (part #4448) in conjunction with the vacuum gauge (part#1247)
