Exceedingly rare vintage 6.8 x 9.8-inch sepia-tone portrait, boldly signed and inscribed to a personal friend in black fountain pen in the late 1910s. In fine condition for its age, with a stain to the bottom border, a fleck of soiling in the upper area and a minor diagonal crease to the upper right-hand corner. The bewitching silent movie queen-- who was later a character actress, popping up in It's a Wonderful Life (1946)-- is remembered for her brief, tumultuous marriage to heartthrob Rudolph Valentino, before he tossed her off for Natacha Rambova.
