Description Particulars For your consideration is an exceptional and very rarely seen Leonard 39L bamboo fly rod in original condition. This is a 7' 6" two-piece for a 3-weight line weighing 2.80 ounces. The 39L evolved from the "Baby Catskill" series, eventually becoming listed as the "Letort" series in the early 1970s, only to return to the "Catskill" moniker.This consists of Leonard indicative straw colored cane with a handsome subtle swelled butt finished with crimson red wraps. Classic cigar grip measuring 5 1/2" in length shows very little use. The butternut insert is under the die stamped nickel silver cap and sliding band. In my hand, the action is medium-slow. The 39L is very light but a very practical rod where its brethren can by some be considered collectible and not fishable.
