This is a genuine Mercedes-Benz Trunk Spare Tire Lid Strap for R129 SL-Class vehicles. This part fits all R129 models. It is found in the trunk under the carpet. This part is found sticking out of a hole on the spare tire cover. It can be pulled out and used to hold the spare tire cover open while accessing the inside. The one end of the strap is stuck under the cover, while the other can be inserted into a small slit on the bottom of the trunk lid.
