About Suzuki Harunobu (1725?-1770) was a Japanese artist and printmaker of the Edo period, known for his innovative and influential woodblock prints. He is considered one of the founders of the ukiyo-e genre, which depicted scenes of everyday life in Edo (modern-day Tokyo). Harunobu's prints were particularly notable for their use of delicate, muted colors and refined lines, which gave his works a sense of elegance and sophistication. He was particularly skilled at depicting women, and his prints of beautiful women (bijin-ga) were highly influential in the development of the genre. Harunobu was also known for his experimentation with new printing techniques, including the use of multiple woodblocks to create prints with multiple colors. He was one of the first artists to use this technique, known as nishiki-e, which became popular in the later Edo period.
