History in a bar: Castile soap dates back to the Levant area of the Eastern Mediterranean now present day Lebanon, Jordan, Israel and other surrounding countries, where this hard soap has been made with 100% Olive Oil for millennia. Before Castile, soap bars were often green in color due to the olive oil and laurel oils that were often used together. Aging soap: The natural method of crafting Castile Soap produced what was probably the first hard white soap bar in history. Most bars of soap that we make age for a minimum of 4-6 weeks but Castile soap must age for a minimum of 3 months. However, it continues to harden as it is aged. It does so, without losing its white color. Our Castile soap is a minimum of 4 months old. This makes for a longer lasting bar as well.
