Third Series, Vol. XIV-XVI: Philadelphia City and County Tax Lists

Compilers: Retrospect Publishing Volume XIV, XV and XVI of the Third Series of the Published Pennsylvania Archives contain tax lists for Philadelphia County and City. These tax lists include the Proprietary Tax for 1769; Provincial Tax for 1774; Supply Tax for 1779, 1780, 1781, 1782, and 1783. Taxpayers are listed by township and in some cases the number of acres, horses, cattle, and servants are also tallied. The 1781 County and the 1783 City Supply Taxes are incomplete. Portions of these lists were missing when the series was originally transcribed and published in 1897. It is also worth noting that the Philadelphia County tax lists also include taxpayers for the area that later became Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.
