Gates CDX Carbon Timing Belt System

The Center Track (CDX) timing belt system from Gates Carbon Drive is one of the best performance upgrades you can install on your tandem. This timing setup reduces overall weight, reduces maintenance, and lasts longer than an equivalent chain drive. There is no stretching, no rusting, and no lube required. That means no more greasy chain tattoos on your legs! Your tandem will need to have a bottom bracket center distance of 28.5" (724mm) or 29.125" (741mm) to use the kits listed here. This distance is measured from the center of the eccentric shell to the center of the stoker BB shell. Most stock-sized Co-Motion tandems have either configuration already. Your tandem cranks need to have 5-bolt and 130bcd spiders on the timing side, or a 4-bolt and 104bcd pattern. It is recommended that you have 68/73mm bottom bracket compatible cranks like the FSA Gossamer or SL-K models, Truvativ Firex, and Co-Motion compact cranks to help with clearance between the rings and frame.
