A tinder tube is a traditional method for starting fire with a flint and steel. Simply char one end of the cotton rope and ignite with a spark from a steel striker. Once ignited, use as you would any other ember. When finished, simply pull rope back into the tube and exstingush the ember by cutting off its oxygen.
