Think twice before throwing out your damaged clothing! Sustainable fashion sewist, Evelyn Russell, will teach you the benefits of visible mending. This includes instruction on various hand-sewn stitches such as the running stitch, blanket stitch, satin stitch, darning, and sashiko. These techniques guarantee your clothing a longer lifespan and allow you to apply your own creativity to the mending process. No prior hand sewing or mending experience is needed. This two and a half hour workshop on visible mending will be held on Sunday, April 27th, from 1pm to 3:30pm in our sewing area at Community. It is available to ages 18+ with a maximum class size of 10 students.The instructor, Evelyn Russell, works at Community as a redesigner and seamstress. She is studying Fashion Merchandising and Fabric Design at the University of Georgia and is pursuing a career in sustainable textiles and fashion.
