Sydney Gross (1921-1969) Born in NY. He was educated at the Art Students League of New York where he later taught. He was also a professor at the University of Maryland and Columbia University. His Early style was influenced by social realism and drew from the surrealist movement that was just starting when he was born. By the time he was 20 he was painting distinctively urban subjects.
