Background History:Minamoto no Yoshitsune (c. 1159 – June 15, 1189) was one of the most celebrated and tragic samurai commanders of the late Heian and early Kamakura periods in Japan. As a military leader during the Genpei War, Yoshitsune played a key role in the downfall of the Taira clan, aiding his half-brother, Minamoto no Yoritomo, in consolidating power and ultimately establishing the Kamakura Shogunate. Known for his exceptional courage, strategic brilliance, and martial skills, Yoshitsune became one of Japan's most famous warriors, revered for his battles and his loyalty to his family. However, his life ended tragically when he was betrayed by a trusted ally’s son. Following a series of political struggles and betrayals, Yoshitsune died in exile at the age of 29, a victim of the very forces he had fought to build. Despite his untimely death, Yoshitsune remains a symbol of loyalty and honor in Japanese history, often referred to as a tragic hero of the samurai code. Product
