Stereoview card (3D) - 7" x 3.5" (Holmes format) Why does it take so long to walk the trail?  Because every square inch contains a world to get lost in.  With lenses in the splash zone my light was directed on the surface below the water rather than the water itself.  The result is a mossy backdrop to setoff the clear light bending motion of the splash. The Watkins Glen Gorge contains several trails and bridges that wind their way from serene to sublime natural views.  Watkins Glen State Park can be found nestled in the Finger Lakes on the southern end of Seneca Lake.  It's just over a mile as the crow flies but the zig zagging trail and changes of elevation result in a much longer hike if one wishes to get the complete experience.  With such extraordinary splendor, the Gorge was the subject of some of the earliest stereo photographs made in the Americas.
