Stereographic Card - Watkins Glen #12

Stereoview card (3D) - 7" x 3.5" (Holmes format) What is keeping this trail up?  I'm always amazed that the public is allowed to walk in such hazardous conditions.  A large rock on the trail makes it all too clear that it must have come from way way up and the next one could be right on the head. Let's not even talk about the dangers of falling over the low walls. The Watkins Glen Gorge contains several trails and bridges that wind their way from serene to sublime natural views.  Watkins Glen State Park can be found nestled in the Finger Lakes on the southern end of Seneca Lake.  It's just over a mile as the crow flies but the zig zagging trail and changes of elevation result in a much longer hike if one wishes to get the complete experience.  With such extraordinary splendor, the Gorge was the subject of some of the earliest stereo photographs made in the Americas.
