MELANGELL (*) cold process lard soap - Oats, Dried Hay, Balsam & Vanilla

Old fashioned, cold process lard soap, from my "soaping with Saints" series. (*) denotes this soap's scent is gender neutral, if that is your preference.   Melangell (Oats, Dried Hay, Balsam, Vanilla)-  This soap was inspired by Saint Melangell, a Patron Saint of Rabbits and Hares! My goal with the fragrance was to create something that evoked "rabbitness". As someone who raises rabbits, that was a combination of some of their favorite foods (oats, dry hay) as well as some soft/warm scents such as balsam and vanilla. I'm very pleased with how this soap turned out! Here's the story of Melangell from Welsh antiquarian Thomas Pennant- Her legend relates that she was the daughter of an Irish monarch, who had determined to marry her to a nobleman of his court. The princess had vowed celibacy. She fled from her father's dominions and took refuge in this place, where she lived fifteen years without seeing the face of a man.
