Solar Fury

"Solar Fury" by Andrew McCarthyprinted on C-Type Matt An incredibly detailed portrait of our star, captured on a day that had a sunspot group pointed right at Earth. Scientists were concerned they could create a flare that could wreck havoc on our satellites, but thankfully nothing happened aside from this pretty show.  This is the solar chromosphere, an atmospheric layer on the sun. Captured using a specially modified telescope, this is a unique view of our star that shows off the complex magnetic fields as they guide plasma structures  hundreds of thousands of miles  long.  Captured on 6/20/2022 The size indicated is the "leaf size", which will include a 1/2" white border for handling and framing.
