ZZ plant (short for zamioculcas) is perfect for every houseplant collection because it is so tolerant of neglect. It is as beautiful as it is easy to grow, with shiny, dark green leaves and a graceful upright shape. [bio] Plant Bio Zamioculcas zamiifolia ZZ Plant was first discovered in Africa (its native range stretches across the Eastern half of the continent) in the 1820s, but it wasn't until the 1990s that this easy-care plant started to become readily available as a houseplant. You might not guess it by looking at the leaves, but ZZ Plant is a member of the Aroid family (Araceae), and a cousin of Anthurium, Dieffenbachia, Monstera, Peace Lily, Pothos, and Philodendron.  ZZ Plant has a reputation for being practically indestructible thanks to its incredible drought tolerance (it stores water in its thick, fleshy leaves, as well as in its potato-like rhizomes) and ability to grow in low light. Though it tolerates low light, it grows best in a bright spot (within 3 to 4 feet of a lar
