Interesting info about this watch:  Both today and historically, watchmaking has been closely associated with one specific country: Switzerland. And while the Swiss undoubtedly lead the world in overall watchmaking prowess, other countries today, such as Japan and Germany, are also known to make gorgeous, superior quality timepieces. During much of the twentieth century, however, Japanese watches were seen as low-end, while only German pieces from the early and late 20th century were considered high quality. Other countries, instead, competed with the Swiss. Arguably leading the pack of non-Swiss watchmakers were their American counterparts, who made exceptionally fine contributions to horology for much of the 20th century. Unfortunately, many of the high-end American brands from this era no longer exist. Of those that still do, however, one brand stands out as preeminent: Hamilton. Hamilton made (and still makes) highly recognizable American timepieces, both mechanical and electric.
