Designed and made exclusively for Courtney Barton, each dohar blends age-old tradition with modern luxury. The word dohar comes from the Hindi term doharana, meaning “to repeat,” with dohar itself signifying “layered”—an apt name for these three-layer blankets. Crafted from mulmul, a light, airy cotton muslin once reserved for Indian royalty, dohars are traditional summer blankets that become softer with every wash. Each dohar is printed by hand using centuries-old block printing techniques. Artisans carve intricate patterns into wooden blocks, dip them into natural, azo-free dyes, and press them onto the fabric in a slow, rhythmic process—repeating the motion anywhere from 500 to 3,000 times.
