Carvings On The Aspens and Collection of Poems
The latest publication from Sublette County Artists' Guild in Pinedale, Wyoming to celebrate their 75th anniversary in 2004. Formed in 1928, the SCAG specializes in the sort of uniquely personal tales that bring Wyoming alive in the plains of Wyoming. Paying tribute to the founding members: Lora Neal Jewett, Josephine Jons Jones, Marie Meyer, Mary Solon Murdock, Louise McCabe Rathbun, and May McAlister Sommers this book brings together "Carvings on the Aspens" and "Collection of Poems", two of the earliest publications of SCAG. These first publications set a precedent for the SCAG books that have appeared since. They sought to capture history by recording memories that were swiftly fading at the time the volumes were originally published, including portraits of people and places. Today, copies of these first editions are difficult to find and have risen in value beyond the reach of most readers. Hardcover, 217 pages. Various artwork as illustrations throughout.
