April Second Sunday School, 4/13/25, 1-4pm with Heartfelt Hands

$25.00

Heartfelt Hands is dedicated to those who process our grief through crafting and building community. The NAMES Project AIDS Memorial Quilt inspires this project and the many hands of our ancestors who built safety stitch by stitch while being held by the community. Colleen(aka Death Doula Does) and Em (aka Dood Pdx) dreamed up this space as a way to give back to those grieving or dying as queer folks. As two queers who mourn and grieve through crafting, they longed for a way to invite others in and give back to their Queer community. In this Second Sunday edition, with the support of Knitted Wit & Craft Emporium, we will learn to quilt using the English Paper Piece (EPP) method. We will pair this learning space with a death and grief container where we can talk candidly about our thoughts, feelings, and curiosities in a peer-to-peer supportive space. As this project grows, the quilts assembled will be donated to Queer Death Collective - PDX to distribute to community members who are supporting their loved ones in death. Note that all Second Sunday Schools are masked events. No one who wants to take part in Second Sunday School will be turned away for financial reasons! We have scholarships available, email at hello@knittedwit.com! And, want more context/information on Second Sunday School in general? We've written an introductory blog post, so click here to access it!
