Almanac Heirloom Pumpkin Barleywine

Note: there is some sourness to this edition. Rated 96 on RateBeer.com. The 2014 version is: 50% ale aged in brandy and rye barrels and 50% ale brewed with spices. Almanac is one of favorite "new" breweries, making delightful, balanced brews that capture the season without being cloying. Released for the fall, the Heirloom Pumpkin Barleywine is a must for dinner parties and Thanksgiving! Brewer's notes: "This velvety American Barleywine-style ale is brewed with over 1,000 lbs of organic heirloom pumpkins and aged in rye and brandy barrels for a year. This decadent autumn sipper pairs well with pecan pie, bread pudding and a warm campfire."
