Black and White Carved Mug

This mug was thrown on the pottery wheel, the handle was attached and then decorated with a black slip. When the piece was dry enough to handle, the carved design was created using the sgraffito technique, revealing the contrasting clay color underneath. It was then fired in the kiln at 2170°F. The clay is a ivory colored ceramic stoneware with dark speckles.  This mug can hold 300ml/10oz of liquid. H: 3"W: 4.75"D: 3.5"
