Statue of Liberty Blue&Gold

As our ferry pulled away from the Statue of Liberty and headed back towards lower Manhattan, I saw the most amazing sight. I had just spent a long hard day lugging heavy camera gear all over New York City. I was tired and had just gotten the shot of Manhattan that I had needed to complete my study of the New York Skyline. All my gear was packed up when I saw this. The setting sun lay behind Lady Liberty and was seconds away form creating a striking silhouette against the bright sun. I had no time to react, I yanked my bag open, pulled out my longest lens, scrambled to attach it to my camera and trained my sights on the giant statue. As I pulled the camera to my eye, the sun passed behind the statue making a wide, dramatic lens flare. I snapped as many shots as I could in this brief instant. It lasted for 2-3 seconds before the sun reappeared behind Lady Liberty and the chance was gone. Only one shot was usable and that just happened to be the exact one I wanted. As such, this is the on
