This is a lose copy of The Death of Atala by Girodet which hangs at the Louvre. On my version we see the main components of the ouvre with slight changes with writings from the Chateaubriand book whence the story comes. The writer is represented right in the middle of the tableau as a piece of steak as his last name would suggest in English There is a representation of a defacing of the work with the words "viva paco" on the lower right. I painted this piece very early on when I started to paint on canvas but did not finish it until almost 20 years later when I added better lines, shading, glazing and the quote from the famous poem from the book Atala, ou Les Amours de deux sauvages dans le désert (Atala, or The Loves of two Indian savages in the desert). Beautiful piece for any room on your home or office. With an imposing size of 4 feet wide by 3 feet tall, it is certain to grace a big wall with this thought provoking canvas.
