A Green New Day by Nikkolas Smith

Artist Statement When you look at any given American, you may see many things. You may see African culture, Arab culture, Latinx culture, European culture, etc. But one thing you will certainly see is a citizen whose future on this earth is dependent on our collective ability to make changes centered around Green living. This idea was the basis for this design, as I centered an every-(wo)man figure holding a WPA Poster crop to represent green lifestyles and jobs, with multiple forms of green energy (solar/hydro/wind) swirling around, intertwined with an abstract representation of green infrastructure. I wish that we would all grasp the seriousness of what is at stake for our planet, and the beauty of what this Earth truly is, and I created this piece to reflect those wishes. -Nikkolas - Nikkolas Smith
