Rio Blanco - Peru
About Rio Blanco Near the Ecuador border in northeastern Peru, you’ll find an important river — Rio Blanco — that lies in the buffer zone near a national sanctuary called Tabaconas Nambelle. It’s a very important area because it preserves a portion of a unique and rare ecosystem called the páramo in the southernmost part of the Andes Mountains. It contains humid grasslands and is almost always covered in mist. (Dreamy!) Unlike other areas in Peru, this ecosystem has similar fauna to the Amazon. The sanctuary also protects two very endangered species — the spectacled bear and the highland tapir — and has a wealth of lagoons and the ancient pre-Inca citadel of Coyona. It’s no surprise that an area with such a rich flora, fauna, and ecosystem produces great coffee with producers like Felimon Campos Hauman who know just how important it is to properly care for his land and the area as a whole. Everything coexists beautifully to preserve this one-of-a-kind region. Taste the beautiful fruit
