The success of that first microlot led him to purchase a neglected 17-acre farm in the cool Cherengany Hills, reviving it as Nawiri—known locally as Muinami, his family name meaning “those who work.” We first met Stephen in Uganda, where we toured farms and processors to better understand the landscape of Eastern Uganda coffee production. Our pathes crossed again at SCA Expo where we exchanged coffee for personal consumption and conversation about the near future. Our third time meeting was on his own farm, where we shared laughs and more conversation. Once the coffee landed in the US, we knew we had to offer it to our customers. Afte
