Large Bail Handle Antique Pantry Box in Chippy Pink Over Green over Yellow Paint (with Original Yellow Bottom), No Lid
This January has been feeling dark in just about every way, so how very welcome feels a big dose of color, and how glorious the color on this 19th c. bentwood pantry box with bail handle--lid long gone, all the better to see its pink painted lip! With the original lemony yellow paint visible on the underside--which with a few traces of that yellow on the interior near the lip, which make me think the exterior was once yellow two. Then this most gorgeous green--which has held on very well, seemingly in spite of efforts cover it in pink! In the end, each color has found its right terrain, yielding a wonderful color story in all senses, and a beautiful thing. I imagine this filled with hedge apples, or pine cones and winter greens, or wooden building blocks (of course!) but also nice set on a high shelf and admired like a painting! 11" d x 5 3/8" t; 10 1/2" t with handle raised. Sound and sturdy. A little shedding when actively moved around, which seemed to be mostly a little soil/dust t
